We currently have 3 vacancies coming up on our Burlington City Council, 2 expired terms and 1 unexpired term.
City of Burlington also has 3 measures. Details for each are listed below in the order they are listed on the ballot.
Measure No. 1 – Fireworks Within City Limits; Shall the City of Burlington ban fireworks within the City limits, except public displays with special permits approved by the City Council.
- A yes vote means fireworks will be banned within the City limits of Burlington, except public displays with special permits approved by the City Council.
- A no vote means no change.
Measure No. 2 – Shall the City of Burlington continue to levy six (6) mills for 10 years for recreational purposes in the City.
This measure has been on the ballot twice – every 10 years since 2006 and is solely used to pay for any recreational activities or costs throughout the City of Burlington.
- A yes vote means no change and the City of Burlington will continue to levy 6 mills for the next 10 years for recreational purposes.
- A no vote means the City of Burlington will no longer levy 6 mills for recreational purposes.
Measure No. 3 – Shall the City of Burlington increase the City Sales Tax from 1.5% to 2%.
This measure was included as a solution to help alleviate the cost of growing parks and recreational strain in finances within the City of Burlington.
- A yes vote means the City Sales Tax will increase from 1.5% to 2%
- A no vote means the City Sales Tax will remain the same.
